On 1 December the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 will come into force. The aim is to reduce both the immediate harm to people and longer-term illness caused by hazardous substances in the workplace. The regulations have a new name, a new focus in some critical areas and are largely implemented by a different regulatory agency but they are born of law that is already in place. Yes there will be some new things to take into account so remember – act but don’t panic. This is the time to review what you have in place to see what you need to do differently.
