Harvey’s Bakehouse is a family-owned and operated business, established in April 2014, and located in Creek Road, Ashburton. Owned by Matt and Emma Harvey, the bakery originally operated as 100 Pipers in the town’s Arcade. However, the couple decided to take a chance and move the business to the Creek Road Shopping Centre, transforming what was once a former interior design studio into a thriving bakehouse. While many doubted the new location, it quickly proved to be a success, with business booming from day one.
Soon after, Matt and Emma were offered the opportunity to open a second store in the former Meads Tearooms building on Main Road in Rakaia. With two busy locations and a growing team, the couple found themselves facing the challenge of balancing work and family life. During the Covid lockdown, they took a step back and reevaluated their priorities, ultimately deciding to scale back to a five-day work week, giving both themselves and their 15 staff weekends off.
At Harvey’s Bakehouse, the team is more like family, and that strong bond shines through in the exceptional service and the lasting relationships they’ve built with their customers. While much of the business is centered around the front counter, many local cafes and restaurants also feature Harvey’s Bakehouse breads and buns on their menus. Whether you’re after a delicious pie with a cold drink, a hearty filled roll and coffee, or a sweet cream bun with a thickshake, Harvey’s Bakehouse offers it all with great service and a friendly atmosphere that’s hard to beat.
